Jeffrey Lage – Owner
Jeffrey started in real estate by buying a small rental home in Cape Girardeau in July 2012. Two more in 2013, and each year buying more and more. A hobby and part-time investment turned into a real joy and the desire to create a company that could serve people in the community with good homes at affordable pricing.
He self-managed the 100+ properties until August 2019 when Jake Welch joined the company as the first hire. The goal is to manage the properties owned by Jeffrey, but also the real estate partners he has added over the years and develop a sustainable company with Jake and the rest of the team.
Jeffrey has also enjoyed short-term rentals the last few years and continues to build that aspect of the business today and mostly works in that field as well as assisting the real estate team with the management affairs and development of the company.
Jeffrey lives in St. Charles today and is married to Stephanie a kindergarten teacher and they have three children (Kaden, Adelyn, and Wally) and a dog named Bella.
Jeffrey loves baseball (Go Cards!), hiking, boating on the lake, basketball, bike riding, and general fitness and exercise, especially outdoor-related.
Jeffrey’s personal belief is that Lage Real Estate will stand out in the property management space as an empathic company focused on relationships. “Our customers are our tenants. Most management companies serve owners and the tenants are replaceable. Since we only manage our own properties, our tenants are our customers and our focus. It allows us to have a different priority when making decisions.”
Jake Welch – Property Manager
Jake joined Lage Real Estate Management in August of 2019 after 7 years in the hospitality industry and hotel management. Having known Jeffrey (The Owner) for several years prior to joining, he was excited for the opportunity to help his friend grow his business, and to do so while weaving their own principles into the fabric of its foundation.
Jake brought over his customer service experience, and experience as a renter, himself, of a dozen different houses and apartments to help best serve the tenants he would now be working with more closely. He has lived and worked in many different cities and climates all over the country, and tries to bring those experiences and perspectives to the job.
Jake loves to travel (Road Trip!), is a huge fan of the STL Cards, Blues, and anything Tom Brady touches, writes music and plays guitar, likes to camp and hike (the rougher the better), and has a 15-year-old Shiba Inu name, Reilly.
